These products are designed to provide practical security without requiring major building work.
Do I need professional installation?
Not usually. Most DIY Xpanda products are designed for competent DIY installation using basic tools. Many customers also choose to use a local handyman or tradesperson.
4. PRODUCT EFFECTIVENESS
Do window bars stop intruders?
They act as a strong physical deterrent.
While no product is completely invulnerable, window bars significantly increase:
- Time required to break in
- Effort required
Most opportunistic intruders will avoid them.
Why use expandable barriers?
Expandable barriers are mainly used for:
- Safety control
- Access restriction
They are not primary security devices, but help prevent wandering and improve safety.
Expandable barriers are commonly used to temporarily restrict access around garages, driveways, workshops, maintenance areas, and shared spaces.
5. CHOOSING THE RIGHT PRODUCT
Which window bar is right for me?
Whether you choose horizontal or vertical bars is largely down to personal preference, as is choosing between square or round bars.
All window bars are available in a range of sizes.
To determine the correct size, measure the inside width and height of your window frame and use the calculator near the bottom of the Window Bars product page. Vertical bars are often preferred for narrow windows or where they better suit the style of the building.
Which product should I choose?
It depends on your risk area:
- Windows → Window bars
- Doors → Security gates
- Access control/pedestrian management → Expandable barriers
- Vehicle threats → Bollards
