Step 1: Position the Housing

Close the roller shutter completely and determine the location where the RDF housing will be installed.

The housing should be positioned so the anchor aligns correctly with the bottom rail of the roller door.

Step 2: Mark the Drilling Location

Using the housing as a guide, mark the location for the anchor sleeve hole.

Double-check alignment before drilling to ensure the anchor engages smoothly when the door is locked.

Step 3: Drill the Anchor Sleeve Hole

Drill a hole for the anchor sleeve using a 25mm drill bit.

You may start with a smaller pilot hole if desired, although many installers drill directly using the 25mm bit.

Step 4: Install the Anchor Sleeve

Insert the anchor sleeve into the drilled hole.

The hole should be approximately the same depth as the sleeve itself.

For the standard RDF anchor sleeve, the recommended depth is:

• 81mm deep

Step 5: Secure the Housing

Position the housing over the installation point and secure it using the supplied through-bolts, backing plate, and washers.

Ensure all fixings are tightened firmly.

Step 6: Test the Locking System

Insert the anchor and verify that:

• The anchor engages smoothly
• The roller door cannot be lifted
• The locking system operates correctly
• All fixings remain secure

Do you start with a smaller pilot drill bit?

You can use a smaller drill bit to mark the location before drilling.

However, in most installations we drill directly using the required 25mm drill bit.

How deep should the hole be drilled for the anchor sleeve?

The hole should be drilled to approximately the same depth as the anchor sleeve.

For the RDF system shown in the video, the recommended drilling depth is 81mm.
