  5. Selecting the Right Barriers
How to choose the best Expandable Barriers

1. Safety and Security:
The primary function of Barriers is to prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas. For optimal security, it is recommended to choose a barrier with a height of at least 1.5 to 2 meters to deter potential intruders and prevent climbing. However, a height of 1 metre can also be sufficient for safety purposes only.

2. Workplace Hazards:
The nature of your property and the specific hazards you are trying to protect against should also influence the height of your Barriers. For example, if the barrier is intended to prevent falls from elevated areas or access to hazardous machinery and equipment, a height of at least 1.5 metres may be necessary.

Expandable Barriers are often used in warehouses and super markets in New Zealand.

3. Visibility:
Ensuring that the chosen height of the Expandable Barriers provides good visibility to occupants and visitors is crucial to prevent accidents.

It is also helpful to think where it is really needed. You can use these quickly and easily anywhere that need either or both visual access and traffic control enforcement. Main examples might be:

  • Warehouse roller door openings and docking bays
  • Blocking off kiosks
  • Cordoning off factory spaces
  • Building & road works site entrance’s
  • Shops, malls, and dairy’s aisles
  • Walkways and pathways that still need full access
  • Deterring thieves from wondering into your open workspace
  • For compliance with safety requirements as they deter pedestrians and keep out of potentially dangerous workspaces

4. Expandable Barriers Heights and Lengths:
Choose from a range of Expandable Barrier' sizes suitable for different openings, with options from 4 to 8 metres in length and heights of 1m, 1.5m, and 2m.

When selecting the height, consider the specific use and environment. DIY Xpanda offers a range of Expandable Barriers.
